Sapta has over 45 years of experience in various industries, including manufacturing, timber, mining, and oil and gas. He had also held various business roles, including Production Planning, Production Operations, Contracting, Project Control, Human Resource Management, and Knowledge Management (KM).
As HR Corporate Vice President at MedcoEnergi, Indonesia’s largest private oil and gas organization, Sapta initiated and was directly involved in the development of end-to-end KM. Since retiring in 2010, he has run his own business as an HR Management and KM consultant, providing training and consulting services to numerous organizations across various industries, including ministries and institutions.
Up to now, Sapta has facilitated and participated in numerous KM training and consulting sessions, including the KM Masterclass, CoP Masterclass, Knowledge Capture Masterclass, KM Assessment, Taxonomy Workshop, KM Strategy and Roadmap, KM Processes, KM Governance, and KM Application Development. His clients span various companies, industries, and government agencies. His clients come from the oil & gas, mining, construction, manufacturing, insurance, port management, aluminum smelter, transportation, pharmaceutical, banking, government agencies, and NGO industries.
Sapta is an Industrial Engineer from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia, and holds a Master’s degree in HR Management from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. He ever served as President of the Indonesian Society for People Management (PMSM) and the Asia Pacific Regional Training & Development Association (ARTDO International). Sapta was also officially appointed as a KM Expert representing Indonesia at the Asia Productivity Organization (APO).
Professionally, Sapta led the team that developed and revised the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) for HR Management. He has also written five books on HRM and KM, as well as Indonesian history.
